A workshop on translating with SDL Trados Studio, organized by Vortex Language Centre brought together Cameroonian translators (freelance and corporate). This five-day workshop took place from 19 – 23 August 2019 at GICAM – Douala, Cameroon.
It had as theme: Translating with SDL Trados Studio: Equipping the African Translator for the International Market, and was aimed at facilitating the translation process with the use of SDL Trados Studio, an innovating technology in translation. The trainer started by recalling the historical background of the software, as well as CAT Technologies. The course content covered the various stages of a translation process; that is from opening file to be translated, to backing up the translation.
At the end of the training, Trainees learned how to: launch and set up the software; create and use an AutoSuggest Dictionary; create, populate, import and export a Translation Memory; align a text; as well as translate and save a translation.
Trainees interested in purchasing an authentic licence of SDL Trados Studio did so.
To wrap up the event, certificates of Attendance were issued to all participants.
